● Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Professor Edward T. Hall Jr., an American anthropologist at the Illinois Institute of Technology, has come up with the theory of proxemics, an idea based on people’s natural tendency to keep a certain amount of personal distance depending on how close they are to one another.
According to him, there are three types of distance people maintain with one another:
01. 45cm(1.5ft), it is considered a distance of intimacy. It usually manifests between you and your loved ones such as your parents or your significant other.
02. 45cm(1.5ft) to 120cm(3.9ft) is considered a distance of privacy. It is an arm’s length distance that you maintain between you and your friends.
03. 120cm(3.9ft) to 360cm(11.8ft) is the distance from which you can hear the other person’s voice and is generally found among colleagues or associates.
The distance you maintain between you and some other person can change depending on the nature of the relationship you choose to develop between you and that person.
Likewise, you can always choose to be more intimate with God than you are now. Do not hesitate to overcome the distance between you and your God by confessing the sins of your heart.
Lord, let us realize that we cannot come close to you with the sins of our hearts. Let us confess all of our sins to God no matter how small or big they maybe. Amen!
